The motivation behind Chantelle Reid’s incredible Olympic comeback is undeniable.

After taking home the European junior bronze in 2014 and being crowned world young champion, the fighter from Derby seemed destined for success. However, she had a degenerative disc injury that prevented her from competing for six years.

“I decided to back off because it was unsettling because my body was still developing,” Reid added. “After examining my scans, two separate physicians recommended that I stop boxing at that level. They believed I would never be able to compete at that level in boxing at the Olympics. I was really young at the time, so it was very concerning.
