Trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin of Mercedes, based in Brackley, thinks the team was fortunate that Lewis Hamilton finished in second place. Shovlin is alluding to George Russell’s unexpected disqualification from the Belgian Grand Prix. Following slow practice sessions on Friday, Mercedes driver George Russell appeared to pull off an unexpected victory at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday. With a one-stop strategy, the British driver secured his third Formula One victory after starting from position six on the grid. But when Russell’s car was discovered to be underweight after the checkered flag, the stewards disqualified him from the results, therefore teammate Lewis Hamilton won.
