PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Pigeon Forge firefighter died in an off-duty motorcycle accident on Sunday night.

The Pigeon Forge Fire Department identified the firefighter as Aaron Huss on Monday, emphasizing that firefighters are like family and expressing their deep sorrow.

“Firefighters are family, and that is especially true for the Pigeon Forge Fire Department. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to work alongside Firefighter Huss,” wrote the Pigeon Forge Fire Department on Facebook.

The department went on to say that this is a “devastating loss” for them and the entire Sevier County Fire Service.

“He was an exemplary employee in both professionalism and character. His faith leaves a lasting impact on those that knew him. On behalf of his fire department family and the City of Pigeon Forge, we offer our sincere condolences during this difficult time,” wrote the department on Facebook.
