ce Sioux and Tuba both showed promise on debut and are respected, but there are also some interesting newcomers in the field, not least the Ger Lyons-trained Poetic Sound.Champion jockey James McDonald sidelined with foot injury

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Mother Nature can get off the mark at the fourth time of asking by taking the Gap Of Dunloe Fillies’ & Mares’ Maiden. Just touched off on her debut, at Dundalk, she then went to the Curragh and, after getting the better of a protracted duel with one rival, she was picked off close home by stablemate Grateful. While that looked a bit disappointing at the time, the winner gave the form a boost when winning the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes two runs later.

Mother Nature went to the listed Oaks Trial at Naas for her third start and while she finished eight, beaten just over four lengths, most of those in front of her then would be short odds to win today’s race. Back up in trip for this one, she can gain her overdue victory at the expense of the promising Riviera Queen.

The latter caught the eye finishing third behind Wingspan on her first start of this season and while she finished last on her next start, it was in a Group 3 won by subsequent Epsom Oaks winner Ezeliya. She won’t have to improve much to be a leading player here.

Donnacha O’Brien has won the last three runnings of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden and has another likely type in Wolf Rayet, By Camelot, out of a dual Grade 3 winner, he comes from a stable in superb form, and can help continue that run.
