Following the end of the Chicago Street Race on Sunday, Bubba Wallace was fined $50,000 for dooring Alex Bowman during the cool-down lap. That’s the amount that 23XI Racing chose not to
appeal and that NASCAR punished him for the offense. Speaking on Monday’s “Actions Detrimental” podcast, co-owner of 23XI Denny Hamlin explained that Wallace’s fine was based on the fact that NBC Sports captured the incident in real time and that it was against Bowman, the race winner. “It’s likely the only call that NASCAR could have made,” stated Hamlin. “NASCAR is quite responsive to comments made on social media.
