After George Russell, his Mercedes teammate, was disqualified for driving an illegal car, Lewis Hamilton emerged victorious in the Belgian Grand Prix, providing one of the most dramatic victories of his career. After an exciting race in which the young Briton won by barely half a second after rolling the strategy dice, Russell looked to have captured just the third Formula One victory of his career. However, Russell was excluded from the official results two and a half hours after the race’s end at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, when both he and Hamilton had already left for their homes in Monaco.
