At seventy-four, he is older than most new teachers. He was employed by NBC, ESPN, and Fox. Oh, and in a nearly 50-year career as a track and TV announcer, he has called over 80,000 horse races. Durkin is an excellent fit for his new position as a public speaking teacher at Saratoga Central Catholic School, a private school serving grades 6 through 12, in Saratoga Springs, New York, just based on that astounding statistic. The information was released to the media by the school. Without a doubt, Durkin is a good speaker.
