In order to advance to the group stages, the North side must defeat two teams as it enters the third preliminary round. Expectations are high for Bruno Genésio’s official debut as the club’s new manager, given that he was recently nominated. Should Les Dogues defeat FC Lugano of Switzerland, they might play José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce as early as the third qualifying round. Lille’s inability to participate in will only make matters worse.
