SARATOGA SPRINGS — Aboard Raging Sea, jockey Flavien Prat wanted no part of the turbulence on Sunday.

Breaking from the No. 3 post, Prat had a front-row seat for a rocky start by Shotgun Hottie and Venti Valentine to his inside in the Grade II Shuvee at Saratoga Race Course.

Raging Sea typically runs from behind, but Prat hustled her away from the disturbance, and she settled into a stalking position behind Misty Veil and rolled to a victory by 2 1/2 lengths over Shotgun Hottie to win for the fourth time in five starts since October.

Breaking from the No. 1 post, Shotgun Hottie bobbled at the start to lose some early forward position, but her problem was minuscule compared to Venti Valentine’s adventure, as she nearly went face-first into the dirt for two straight strides before Irad Ortiz, Jr., pulled her head back while spotting the field several lengths.

By then, Raging Sea had gotten the jump on Shotgun Hottie heading toward the first turn, and the early move helped her get the better of her chief rival in the race.
